Covering basic safety, hold selection, hardware use, putting holds on walls, and the intricacies of forerunning, this clinic will introduce women and non-binary/genderqueer folks to routesetting. No prior experience required! Participants will create their own boulder problem and learn how to fine-tune their masterpiece into a climb they and others will enjoy.
You'll be taught by Touchstone's own routesetters–the same badasses who set every problem for the Woman Up Competition and in your gyms each week! Through this process, you will find out how truly difficult it is to assign a grade during the forerunning process. Don't expect to get a certification of some kind after completing this clinic–you won't, but you will get a better understanding of what it takes to be a commercial routesetter.
Prerequisites:
Woman Up 2026 clinics will take place across multiple Touchstone gyms in California. By expanding beyond a single location, we can reach more of our community and create greater access and opportunities to participate. Interested in what’s being offered? Check out the clinics here.
Online registration opens July 1st at noon; mark your calendars!
