Woman Up Setting Clinic

Covering basic safety, hold selection, hardware use, putting holds on walls, and the intricacies of forerunning, this clinic will introduce women and non-binary/genderqueer folks to routetsetting. No prior experience required! Participants will create their own boulder problem and learn how to fine-tune their masterpiece into a climb they and others will enjoy.

You'll be taught by Touchstone's own routesetters–the same badasses who set every problem for the Woman Up Competition! Through this process, you will find out how truly difficult it is to assign a grade during the forerunning process. Don't expect to get a certification of some kind after completing this clinic–you won't, but you will get a better understanding of what it takes to be a commercial routesetter.

Prerequisites:

  • No routesetting experience is required!
  • Open to feedback and critique, comfortable giving feedback and critique
  • Must be able to comfortably climb v3
  • At least 1 year of climbing experience
  • Must be comfortable using and moving ladders
  • Able to carry at least 25lbs
